Collette Broeders immersed herself into a creative residency for over a week at Blueberry View Artists’ Retreat. The studio and surrounding gardens offered a space to experiment and expand upon her current art practice. During her stay, a drawing was completed every hour on the half hour for seventy two hours to create a record of time along with several other imaginary maps and mixed media drawings.
Blueberry View Artists’ Retreat is a simple setting, designed as a space for concentrated contemplative work in the privacy of a country setting and is hosted by two incredible souls and artists, Jan Sullivan and Mark Toncray. Just 100 miles or 2 hours from downtown Chicago by car, it is in the little town of Riverside, Michigan, 8 miles north of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph where there is a thriving arts community with many organizations.
